Any time I have to stop moving and rotate step by step 45 degrees at a time (trying to do that while moving is disorienting for me not in a sick-making way, but more of a "which way am I going now?" way) feels like a failure of level design-most of the game I can actually just press forward and look where I want to go and get there smoothly and without trouble or nausea, and I love it. I personally find that much more comfortable than straight right-stick-to-rotate, and distinctly better than the rotate-45-degrees-per-move thing HTL does, though that's definitely an improvement over traditional 2-stick navigation. (Note: I've only played Here They Lie, of the 3 you mentioned.) Is it that, when you're in forward motion and turn your head, your direction of motion gradually adjusts to point the direction you're looking? I'm not entirely understanding which part of the control scheme you have trouble with. I need to be able to walk forward and look freely around with my head, but instead, these games use head turning, which is a no no for me. It's the weird controls that these games have that make me sick.
